I am continually fascinated by people. With each of my subjects I try to capture an authentic image, not the typical posed portrait. Subjects may be accustomed to “smile for the camera”, but to me much more interesting images result from just talking to them about what’s going on in their lives as I’m working.

I have the “gift of gab”. From the person who feels awkward and doesn’t know what to do with their arms, to a wonderfully cantankerous child, I have the ability to set my subjects at ease. Most start with a preconceived idea about what they want, but when we’re finished the results are always something they don’t expect.

We all have milestones in our lives, memories we want to preserve and pass on. That’s what I strive to do, with an artful eye.
